Simtec
2000 Series Sanding Surfacer Primer is a great primer for Automotive, Marine,
Wood & MDF. It fills major
imperfections and gives you a great surface to finish with Polyester Topcoat or
any other topcoat you prefer. It also
has a very low VOC 205 grams per liter or 776 grams per gallon.
Application:
This
product can be applied to any metal,
wood surface, MDF, graphite or fiberglass surface. It will seal the surface completely, fill any
imperfections, and create
a surface that is ready to topcoat. Wet mill thickness when applied should be
around 12 mills Thick. (12/1000th of an inch).
Surface Preparation:
Prepare
the surface to be coated by sanding with 220 or 320 grit, non-sterated
sandpaper. Then remove all dust or
foreign matter from the surface. Special
attention should be given to surface preparation as the service life of any coating
is prolonged in proportion to the efficiency with which this operation is
performed.
Preparing the Coating:
Now
prepare the clear sanding sealer by adding the correct amount of catalyst,
2 % or .5 oz per quart.
Be sure to mix catalyst in thoroughly. Thin the primer 10-20% with
Simtec Reducer or 50/50 mix of acetone and a slow evaporating lacquer
thinner.
Your pot life is 30 minutes at 77 degrees F.
Simtec’s 2000
series can be applied with an HVLP or Lacquer type gun or can be made for a plural component system
which ever is acceptable in your area.
Use 25-45 lbs. air pressure with the lacquer type gun, holding the spray
gun 12-18 inches from the surface being coated.
Now
you’re ready for topcoat or your color coat.
Just sand the primer smooth with 220 grit paper for polyester or what
ever is recommended by the topcoat you are going to use to get a mechanical
bond and your ready. You can topcoat
with Simtec’s 2781, 2481
or any other product you may desire.
